36 Week Ultrasound and Appointment

Lots of change!! Remember my post from a few weeks ago about baby being not so big? I am eating my words. Baby is weighing in at 6lbs 10oz (74%). Not too long ago, he was weighing in around the 42%. I really need to cut back on the ice cream.

Baby was not having any part of the ultrasound today. He was curled into a tight little ball, laying on his back. We couldn't even get a picture of his sweet little face. Apparently, he's had enough of all of this too!

I am dilated to 1 (it's a start, at least!). He is head down. Fluid level is 11.

I also had the GBS test done. That is such an awesome test. I've been negative 5 times, so it will be interesting to see how that comes back tomorrow.

I keep telling myself that I need to finish getting ready for the baby's arrival...maybe I need to take myself seriously!

My next visit is on the 9th. The weeks are flying by.

Oh! And the van you ask? Nope...it's still being worked on.

So This Was A Tough Week

Okay, so you all know about the van. *Sigh*, the news on the van is worse than we thought. We thought it 'just' needed a new transmition. Wrong. The dealership has the replace the engine. No joke. The service manager told Dan that if the van weren't still under the extended warranty that they would tell us to 'buy a new car'. I guess the bright side is that it's getting a new engine. A four year old minivan getting a new engine. What an absolute joke. The van will be ready Wednesday or Thursday of this week. That can't come soon enough.

And our air conditioner that is four years old itself stopped working in the hottest weather of the year (so far). It was a quick fix, but it was stressful. Thank goodness it is fixed-tomorrow is going to be 98 with a heat index of......well it doesn't matter....it is going to be hotter than three shades of hell.

I am officially finished with work until after the baby is born. I have worked my rear off since December 1st, so this is a much needed break, but it will take me some time to get used to being at home again. The kids will love it and at least I get to enjoy my summer with the kids. Today, I went to Dan's Home Depot and bought some new flowers and then after picking the kids up from camp, we went over to my parents house to swim with my sister. We had such a good time! It's days like these that I am reminded how nice it is to be home.

The End Is Near

Oh I am so excited! I only have three more shifts to work until I am on maternity leave! It's hard to believe we are in the home stretch and I am nervous and excited at the same time.

There is still so much to do to get ready for the baby's arrival. I have to figure out how to use the new car seat, we have lots of little baby clothes to wash, the porta crib to set up and supplies to buy.

This will also give me a couple of weeks at home with the kids, which will be wonderful. The weeks are flying by and before we know it, we will be welcoming our 6th child.

Any guesses on who he will look most like? Jack is our only kiddo with my dark brown hair and I would love it if the baby would too, but I have a feeling he is going to look like our oh-so-adorable Will.

Why I Will Never Buy An American Made Car

As I sit here looking out the window at our Dodge Grand Caravan, which is DEAD in the driveway, I am reminded why I will never again buy an American made car. They are pieces of crap. The car is 4 years old, we bought it brand new with just 36 miles on it and in 4 years, it's been in the shop with MAJOR problems...ohhh....5 times.

My 2000 Honda Accord, which I bought brand new with just 19 miles on it, did not buy an extended warranty, and now has 113,000 miles on it, has been in the shop for NOTHING but oil changes and tune ups.

When the "American" (and I say "American" because Ford gets it's car parts from Mexico) car companies make a car that is worth a damn, I may consider buying another one. Until that day comes, I'm sticking with Honda and Toyota.

So I totally forgot to blog that yesterday, Dan and I celebrated NINE years of marriage. Where have the years gone?

Who Would Have Thought?

For all of the past many months, I was so sure that this baby would end up being a hippo just like Anne. I've worried a lot, lost some sleep and pretty much prepared myself for the fact that my uterus has just given up and would let this baby grow to be 10lbs.

So you can imagine my surprise when I went in for my 33 week appointment the baby is now measuring just *a bit* over 32 weeks (and i turned 33 weeks today).

Silly me, all of this time I was worried about a big baby, and watch, this baby will end up being a tiny little thing just like the Wood-man.

I'm not allowed to work past the 30th of June, so that will be a nice few week break before Evan arrives. My next ultrasound is at my 36 week visit. My blood pressure was good today (122/84), my swelling sucks, I forgot to pee in the cup, and I think I'm just a few pounds shy of Shamu. All in all, good visit.

Just about 5 weeks left. This is so exciting.

I Have A Problem

I buy a ton of flip flops. I wonder if there is a medical condition applying to this matter.

What is it with flip flops you ask?

I hate summer. I hate heat. If you have never been to St. Louis during the summer months, you have no idea what I am talking about. We have humidity. St. Louis was just ranked the worst place to live if you suffer from Asthma or Allergies.

So Meg doesn't do heat. Nor do I like the feeling of sunscreen on my skin. Or sand. I hate the feeling of sand sticking to skin. I hate flying bugs and spray on bug repellent.

I dislike swimming in bodies of water (pools included). It's dangerous. People of all ages die from swimming. There is no such thing as being water safe.

Okay, so with all that being said, there are two things that get me through the summer. One: air conditioning. Two: flip flops.

I have no idea what it is about flip flops that I love, but they make me happy so Dan doesn't care how many pairs I buy. I just bought two more pairs from Old Navy. Dan brought me home two pairs from Florida.

My total number of flip flops this summer (so far) equals......8.
