SO Excited!!

We are planning a trip to Newport, RI for our 10th Wedding Anniversary. Dan and I LoVe Newport. It holds a lot of special memories and we haven't been there for 8 years.

I have never looked forward to summer, but this makes me giddy!

Dear Santa....

Dan took Libby to see Santa today.

She told Santa, "I really want a horse. A REAL horse. You can get one at the horse farm".

Good Luck with that one, Santa.

Some Days Are Better Than Others

...And today was one of those days.

I have found over the past 9 years that parenting is not always easy. That somehow, you have to be strong even though you are exhausted after only having 4 hours of sleep. Kids don't care that their parents are tired. You don't have the luxury of taking a nap in the middle of the day. You just have to suck it up and do the best you can.

The older kids don't care that the baby is teething, or hasn't slept through the night since the day he was born.

The baby doesn't care that the older kids are hungry and want lunch.

The baby also doesn't care that mom and dad both work and work terrible hours. That mom just needs a few minutes to wrap a few Christmas presents or needs to do five loads of laundry or balance the checkbook.

None of the kids understand that mom and dad would like 5 minutes to themselves.

This is parenting.

Let The Games Begin...

Dan and I have a bet going.

By Christmas, we are going to see who can lose more weight.

Who do you think is going to win?

How To End An Unwated Telephone Call Quickly

The phone rang this afternoon right as I was trying to get out of the house to take Evan to the pedi.

It was some guy calling from AG Edward wanting to talk to me about my 'long term investment plans'.

So he has his speech going....blah, blah, blah. I wanted to tell him so badly that my father works for Merrill Lynch, but even Meg couldn't get a word in edge wise.

Finally, he asks, "Do you have any long term investment plans that I can help you with today?"

I said, "As a matter of fact, I do".

I went on to tell him that my long term investment plan consisted of a boob job and a tummy tuck on my 40th birthday.

There was silence on the phone for a few seconds and then I hear a little giggle.

He said, "I'm sorry to have wasted your time" and hung up.

That was easy. I guess he didn't want to any further details of my long term investment plan.

I Love This Kiddo...

Will thinks that our minivan is a transformer. He asks me all the time if I have ever seen it change into a robot. He told me the other day that if maybe we buy a transformer symbol and put it on the car, it will for sure change.

I love him, he makes me laugh. I might just buy one and put it on the back of the van to see if he notices...

The Days Are Long...

...But the years are short. That couldn't be any more true.

Today, Jack turns NINE years old. At 8:07pm to be exact. It rained the day he was born. It was cold too.

Today, the weather is beautiful and unseasonably warm. It couldn't be a more perfect day.

Tonight, we are taking the big boys to the St. Louis City Museum. This is one of the coolest places on the planet. It's also one of Jack's favorite places to go. The three little amigos are staying home with a sitter, but tonight, we are going to have a blast with our big boys.

Family Fun...

So tomorrow, Friday, I am taking all six kids to have their pictures taken. We do not have a picture with all six monkeys together, so I am excited! I'm not really sure how this is going to go, but I'm going to keep a positive attitude and just have fun with it. But, I am secretly keeping my fingers crossed super tight that we can get at least one great photo of all of them together!

Dragon Keepers

Jack had his first session with Dragon Keepers this morning! He was so excited! He started the morning at 5am because he was worried that he would be late!

Dragon Keepers is a 'club' for (from what we are told) really smart kids who need to be challenged more, helps them with organization, study skills, etc. But, it's all targeted towards these types of kids. They meet once a week on Wednesday mornings from 8am to 9am

I can't wait to hear all about it!!

Reminisce Over You

Today would have been my Grandma Jane's birthday. She would have been.....honestly, I don't remember how old she would have been today. People like her are timeless. I miss her dearly.
