...Anne's cast was taken off at 9:46am. Her break has healed and she is free from her club!
Her skin is red, irritated, itchy, and still she still has some bruising around her wrist, but that should all go away within a few days.
Her elbow isn't stiff, though she still walks around as if her arm is still in a cast.
She HATED the noise of the hand saw that they used to cut it off, but that didn't take too long. She didn't appreciate another xray either. It was an emotional morning, but I am so happy the haunting of the cast is behind us *knock on wood*.

Happy Birthday, Sam!
His birthday was actually yesterday, but it was a busy day, so I didn't have time to post.
Sam turned 7. It's so hard for us to believe. I guess a mother never forgets the series of events the day a child is born. I remember the day Sam was born as if it were yesterday. A beautiful May day. How perfect for him as he is the sunshine of our lives.
When I was pregnant with Sam, we thought for sure he would look just like Jack and have the same personality. The two boys are just 18 months apart.
We couldn't have been more wrong. Sam was such a good baby right from the start. He was my cuddly baby. He loved to he held. He didn't cry very much.
This sweet baby is now a lovable, sensitive, polite young man that everyone wants to be around. He has many friends. His laugh is contagious.
If I were ever to be stranded on an island with someone, I would hope it would be Sam. I just love being around him.
Happy Birthday, Sammy-B.

30 week Appointment
...And this baby boy is still growing right on target. I'm shocked, actually. I thought for sure he'd end up being a moose like Anne. There is still plenty of time for him to pack on the pounds, so we'll see what happens with his growth in 3 weeks.
The plan is at least in motion. I won't go past 38 weeks. One, because of my blood clotting disorder, and two because of Anne's *fabulous* delivery.
So we are looking at a birthday around July 17th. Just eight more weeks. It's time to start getting ready.

Cheer, Cheer for 'Ol Notre Dame
I saw this whole thing with Notre Dame and the 'President' on the news over the weekend.
And, honestly, I am trying to figure out why this was such a big ordeal.
The President has his abortion views and while I understand that Notre Dame is a Roman Catholic University, (as sad as it is) the President is still the President.
He could have gone to another prestigious school-Harvard, Yale, etc, but he went to Notre Dame.
I have a lot of respect for Notre Dame. I think it is an excellent school that few are able to experience being a student.
So who did people want to speak at graduation? Even if you don't support the President or agree with his views, I think it was immature for some people who attended the graduation to yell out comments during the ceremony.
Grow up, people. If you want your opinions to be heard, start a blog or something. Seriously.

The Haunting of the Cast (Part II)
So the pedi ortho called us back around 1pm and told us to come in for a 2pm appointment.
At 1:30pm, off we went.
I like the Doctor a lot. He's a really nice guy. They re-xrayed her arm and the really good news is that it has already started to heal.
I'm not sure if I mentioned that her first cast came just up to her elbow. According to the Ortho Dr, it's easy for little kids to pull their casts off, so that made me feel a little better.
The way to "fix" the pulling-off-the-cast problem is to put a cast on up to the shoulder.
....*awesome*.....
Anne now has a cast back on that is up to her shoulder. They gave her a pretty shade of purple which is cute.
The even better news, the break is healing so fast that she only has to have it on for two more weeks. It comes off May 29th.

The Haunting of the Cast
This morning while Will and Libby were at preschool, Anne and I had a few errands to run. We went to the grocery store for a few things and after dropping everything off at home, we went to Walmart.
Have I ever mentioned that I hate Walmart? It's really a love/hate situation. I love their prices, but hate the way the store is set up. It's just not my favorite place, but will tolerate it to save a little money.
While we were there, standing in the laundry detergent isle, I was busy talking to my sister on the cell and the next thing I know, Anne is yelling "MOM!". When I turned to her sitting in the cart, she handed me her cast.
Yep, she slipped it off. I guess the swelling had gone down enough, because it took her little to no effort to pull it off.
Now, we are "patiently" waiting for the pedi ortho to call back to tell us what to do (like this is brain surgery or something).
My father is right.....It's always something.

Bath Night
Have you ever tried bathing a nineteen month old with a cast? It's not as easy as you may think.
First, forget the bathtub. You lose all control over the injured limb. So, the only option you have is the kitchen sink.
Which, isn't too bad.
But first, you have to take (at least) two trash bags and wrap them around the smallest cast known to man, then tape the hell out of it with medical tape and pray to god you didn't miss a spot where water can leak through and get the cast wet.
But, she had to have a bath. The last bath Anne had was Sunday morning and she was so dirty there could have been no way I could take her out in public tomorrow.
Needless to say, the bath wasn't *too* bad. it just takes some time, some patience, and a ton of tape.
It's going to be a long six to eight weeks.

Happy Mother's Day
...We had a wonderful morning/early afternoon at my parent's gold club. Dan and the kiddos made some awesome things for me and, well, it was just a really nice day.
...And the day ended with Anne getting a cast on her wrist. Yes, she broke her wrist falling off of the couch late last night.
The thing that kills me about it is that in eight and a half years, we have never had a broken bone here. Three wild and crazy boys who climb trees, fly down the sidewalk on the bikes and it's the couch that gets Anne. Go figure.
It is a clean break that they didn't even have to set and she has the cutest little cast which the other kids will love to color and decorate for her. She has to have it on for six to eight weeks and we have to see a Pedi Ortho seven days from now.
See, I told you....our house is like a goodie bag full of surprises.

Twilight
Okay, don't laugh.
A month or so ago, I could care less about the book or the movie. And then, I took care of a patient at the hospital who was obsessed with it. So, I thought to myself, "I'll give the book a try.".
I read the (first) book in two days. I couldn't put it down. It is fabulously written, a love story that somehow won't allow you to put it down.
I then decided to rent the movie. Now, the movie isn't as good. Movies are never as good as the books. The acting is less to be desired, but let's be honest with one another, Robert Stewart is yummy.
So yes, I'm obsessed. Add me to the group of tweens that have fallen in love.
