Happy Brithday Will

He turned six years old today. Actually, this morning at 10:37am. He was my shortest labor and delivery at just 1 hour, 37 minutes. We brought him home from the hospital on a bitterly cold January day, he was almost too small for his car seat (we had to wrap him in a few blankets to make sure he fit securely).

He was also our smallest baby at 5lbs, 10oz. The baby that was so small and wonderful. I could carry him around all day.

He has changed so much in the past year. He started kindergarten this past fall. He's come out of his shell, realizing that he doesn't need his older brother's the show him the way. He has many friends, he loves school.

He's funny as hell. Will has a sense of humor that is beyond his years. He makes us laugh uncontrollably.

He is a sweet natured child. He is protective of his siblings.

He is still physically small, though his personality is 10 times his size.

He's an awesome kiddo. We just can't get enough of him.

I Guess Medical Science Can't Tell Us Everything..

Will had an appointment with his Endo Doctor yesterday. This appointment was actually part of the whole 'starting Growth Hormones' process. It's a very long process....it's exhausting to be honest with you.

Anyway, we've been coping with a child who hasn't been able to grow at an appropriate rate. Will turned 5 in January, and weighs just 32 pounds. He's been this way since before birth, so it has been a mystery to us of why he can't grow.

Yesterday, he had to be weighed and measured. This can be a little nerve-wracking for most parents, but for parents like this, it is very nerve-wracking. We usually hear, 'no growth'. It is stressful.

But to my utter surprise, Will had grown an inch in height and a pound in weight in just three months.

*Blink, Blink*!

We haven't seen that amount of growth out of him for.....well, I don't think we ever have.

Don't get me wrong, he is still tiny. He's only in the 2% for height and he is not even on the chart for weight.

My point is, we've always been told by his Endo that he'll never be able to grow at a 'normal rate' and that he will always been tiny.

Maybe yesterday, he proved his Endo wrong.

Oh! But we are still doing Growth Hormones :)

I Love Eli Lilly

Because yesterday afternoon, FedEx delivered Will's first month of Growth Hormones (over $3000 worth). We will be starting them the week of the 23rd.

This is exciting.

Happy Birthday, Will

Today, he turned five years old at 10:37am.

He was our smallest baby and just 5 pounds, 10 ounces. He was our most beautiful newborn. He was my fastest labor and delivery, taking just 1 hour 37 minutes.

He was so small that we had to wrap him in three blankets just to get him to fit into his car seat the day we brought him home from the hospital. He wore preemie clothes for three weeks. You could hold him easily in one arm. He was our baby that cuddled the most.

But, today, with a weight of just 30 pounds, he amazes us. His size never stops him. He keeps up easily with his older brothers. He has many, many friends. His sense of humor is awesome. He has a heart the size of ten giants.

It feels as if it were just yesterday that he was born, and now, we have a sweet, lovable five year old getting ready to go to kindergarten. Time flies by way too quickly.
