The Days Are Long...

...But the years are short. That couldn't be any more true.

Today, Jack turns NINE years old. At 8:07pm to be exact. It rained the day he was born. It was cold too.

Today, the weather is beautiful and unseasonably warm. It couldn't be a more perfect day.

Tonight, we are taking the big boys to the St. Louis City Museum. This is one of the coolest places on the planet. It's also one of Jack's favorite places to go. The three little amigos are staying home with a sitter, but tonight, we are going to have a blast with our big boys.

Dragon Keepers

Jack had his first session with Dragon Keepers this morning! He was so excited! He started the morning at 5am because he was worried that he would be late!

Dragon Keepers is a 'club' for (from what we are told) really smart kids who need to be challenged more, helps them with organization, study skills, etc. But, it's all targeted towards these types of kids. They meet once a week on Wednesday mornings from 8am to 9am

I can't wait to hear all about it!!

Smart As Hell...

Jack is obsessed with anything that has to do with science. Right now, He's into sharks. Which, I love as I loved sharks growing up also.

After another long day shift, I walked into the house and there was Jack all excited, waving his arms in the air, ready to tell me something....

And then came his big chance and he yelled out...

"Mom, Mom...did you know the average Great White Shark is sixteen feet long, eight feet deep and six feet wide??!!!!".

"No way, Jack! I didn't know that". (Yes, I did, but shhhh).

This weekend, I just have to take him to the Science Center to see the movie on sharks that will only be showing for another few days. It will be worth every penny.

Happy Birthday, Jack-Jack Attack

It's hard for me to believe that he is eight years old today. It really doesn't seem all that long ago that he was born. It was a cold day with light rain. We were scared and nervous first time parents. We didn't know what to expect. I was in labor for 16 hours. We thought for sure our baby would would have a little blond hair and blue eyes. To our surprise, Jack was born with olive tone skin and almost black hair. That was right at 8:07pm.

To this day, every once in a while, I will catch a glimpse of the clock reading 8:07pm. A mother never forgets.

And despite us not having a clue on how to raise a child, he continues to survive us. And he takes it all in stride.

Jack has always had a zest for life that is contagious. He is this very intelligent, funny, sensitive, sweet little boy that everyone wants to be around. He is a natural first born leader with a strong personality. He's naturally good at every sport he's tried (I'm not even upset over his love for baseball instead of soccer - lol!). He is destined for greatness on so many levels.

This is not a sad day for me that he is a year older. I feel as if the fun is just beginning.
